Dissecting another interesting article that my aunt shared about the importance of drinking water first thing in the morning and what it can do for you!
Here are the 7 reasons why this article says you should drink water when you wake up:

- Stops Headaches
- Flushes Toxins
- Keeps things moving
- It keeps you from getting sick
All totally true and valid, but for me, one of the biggest reasons to drink water when you wake up is to start your day off by making sure you’re hydrated!
So many people do not drink nearly enough water throughout the day, it’s so important to start off by getting that water in! One of my good friends in college would drink an entire large nalgene water bottle when waking up to make sure that she started her day with hydration – she got dehydrated easily, and drinking lots of water when waking up helped her maintain that throughout the day.
I don’t drink a nalgene’s worth first thing, but I do start my day drinking my vitamins — I don’t take pills for my multivitamins, calcium, OPC-3 and vitamin-D — instead I drink them in Isotonic form, which means “same pressure,” and bears the same chemical resemblance of the body’s blood, plasma and tears. The body’s common osmotic pressure, which is isotonic, allows a consistent maintenance of body tissues. In order for a substance to be absorbed and used in the body’s metabolism, it must be transported in an isotonic state.
So I have my morning cocktail (I mix my Isotonix in powder form with the appropriate amount of water) and voila! My morning dose of water and vitamins!
If you’re not taking vitamins daily, I would absolutely recommend doing so, but more importantly take quality vitamins. What you put into your body is so important!
My daily water routine following my vitamins also includes making sure I drink a gallon of water per day – and I make sure I get in half of my requirements by lunchtime.
One way you can get your water dose first thing in the morning is hot with fresh lemon – this especially is wonderful for those kidney stones and flushing toxins!
Throughout the day add a squeeze of lemon or lime to keep you drinking all day long! (Avoid fake sweetener packets like lemonades, etc.)
