About two weeks ago, as Jon and I were disassembling and reassembling a desk I just bought as a birthday present for him, he asked me to place the extra round things that are supposed to sit with the screw (like my technical terms here?) in the drawer.
When I opened it, was a gift for me. Wrapped in paper with sketches of piles of books on it, was The Alchemist.
Jon said it was one of his favorite books of all time, he read it for the first time while he was stationed overseas. The book, he said, changed his life and how he looked at the world.
Beyond touched by his gift, not just that he would share it with me, but because gifts are his love language, so any time he speaks his to me with a gift, I get extra sappy.
If I could describe The Alchemist in a word, the best to describe it would be lovely.
If anyone has watched the Secret, this is one of the most powerful laws that exist in the universe: the law of attraction.
For whatever you want or hope to achieve, the universe is working hard to make your wish come true.
Now, this post isn’t meant to be a review of the book, but to share the lesson of it: “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.” Conspires. I love the strength of that word.
